Situated on Vermont Route 17, The Swanson Inn is a short five mile drive to Sugarbush Resort, four miles to Mad River Glen, and just two miles to Waitsfield village shopping and restaurants.
Your stay at The Swanson Inn includes a vegan/vegetarian continental breakfast including daily muffins, fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, and perhaps a pancake or savory dish along with organic hot tea and coffee and juice.
The Swanson Inn continues a seventy-year tradition of hosting visitors to the Mad River Valley. Starting in 1948, Henry and Ginny Perkins opened a ski lodge the same year Mad River Glen opened its doors just up the road. The Perkins became a fixture for welcoming skiers to Vermont. In 1979, Thom and Joan Gorman took over operations of the then, Millbrook Inn. Under their 40 year ownership, the Millbrook Inn became well known for its restaurant and hospitality all four seasons of the year. Rick Swanson and Tim Heath-Swanson purchased the Millbrook Inn in 2018 and re-named it the Swanson Inn of Vermont as well as honoring Thom and Joan with the re-named Gorman Room. Frank Giubardo purchased the inn in 2023 alongside his son BJ and daughter-in-Law Natasha and we are currently tailoring and personalizing what we offer!
If we are full here at the Swanson Inn, please consider booking a room at our sister location, the Waitsfield Inn, one mile away in Waitsfield’s Irasville Village.
