Gift Certificates

General

Consider giving a get-a-way weekend to the Swanson Inn for your family and friends. The Mad River Valley has much to offer – from skiing to fishing, shopping to hiking, and music to beer, vacation opportunities in Central Vermont never slow down. This gift would be a great boost to the spirit for a post-COVID break.

You can also give the gift of pie! A gift certificate can be used for Sunday Pie or whole pies.

Please contact us for more details.

Pandemic Update

General

As of Friday, November 13, 2020, the Swanson Inn is not accepting reservations for lodging stays until January 1, 2021. We are joining many of the Mad River Valley lodging establishments in an effort to ensure the health and safety of local residents and our potential guests – that is you.

Though our closure is not mandated by the State of Vermont, we will continue to follow the State of Vermont guidance and mandates as they announced. Please be assured that we plan to open as quickly as possible once we feel it is safe for our staff, guests, and community.

We will continue to offer our pies to the public for take-out only. For more information on our home-made pies, please see our pie page here.

Thank you,

Tim and Rick

Rokeby Museum

General

Rokeby Museum is open and a great place to visit this summer. Open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The museum’s special 2020 exhibit MENDING FENCES: NEW WORK BY CAROL MACDONALD includes prints and objects in the gallery, and outdoor installations – all inspired by Rokeby Museum – that explore simple and profound acts of repair. (For an exhibit review, search Seven Days Art Review Mending Fences.)

For a deeper understanding of  race issues in America today, the museum’s award winning, multi-media exhibit FREE & SAFE: THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD IN VERMONT is a great exploration of the history of slavery and the work done by many to abolish it.

Rokeby also offers walking trails, historic farm buildings including an early 20th century creamery, virtual tours of the historic Robinson family home, and extra care to make your visit clean and safe. Open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Summary provided by Joan Gorman, our friend and previous Inn owner.

Passover Desserts

General

The Swanson Inn is taking orders Passover desserts. We currently offer our Flourless Chocolate Cake for $25.

If you have a special request, please call Tim at 802-496-2405. We may not be able to accommodate all special requests. Call Tim to see what he can do.

We wish all our Jewish neighbors a wonderful Passover celebration.

In these uncertain times, please join the Swanson Inn and light a candle for hope.

What’s Happening at the Inn Today?

General

Friday, July 26, 2019

The Inn continues to bustle with guests and friends. Tim is making a pie for a social event, Rick is working in the gardens, and the dogs are resting. We continue to welcome Long Trail hikers needing a rest for the rocks, roots, and weather of the LT.

Saturday, July 13, 2019

Long Trail Hiker “Butterfly” spent a “zero” day at the Inn with her parents. She was back on the trail this morning, well fed and rested. Keep it going, Butterfly! We know you can make it! Check out the Green Mountain Club for more information on the Long Trail.

June 14, 2019

The Swanson Inn is getting a facelift. Starting in late May, Amanda has been scraping, priming, and painting the Inn.

At first it looked like the Inn had the measles with brown spots over the blue paint.

But with the first top coat slowly spreading, you can see a glimpse of the future.

Keep an eye out right here to see how this project, and many others, is shaping up.
